When you actually need this
Almost always compatibility rather than quality. Upload forms with a fixed accept list, print services whose colour pipelines predate WebP, older desktop software, and the occasional marketplace that validates file extensions strictly. If a site tells you your image is an invalid format and you know it's fine, a WebP extension is a very likely culprit. For anything staying on the web, keep the WebP — it's smaller and looks the same.
Transparency becomes white
JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparency has to resolve to something and this tool composites onto white. That's right for most cases, but if your WebP is a logo or cut-out headed for a coloured background, you'll get a visible white rectangle. Convert to PNG instead in that situation — bigger, but transparency survives. Soft shadows are the most obvious casualty, since they fade to white rather than to the colour behind them.
It's a re-encode, not a copy
Both formats are lossy, so converting decodes and re-encodes. At high quality the additional loss is imperceptible, but it's real, and doing it repeatedly compounds. Convert once at a good quality setting and keep the WebP as your master if you still have it.
